Banana Republic

Yesterday Sue mentioned something about the current socio-political mood in this country. Today I came across another well-written piece about the impact that America has on the wider world.

On a more positive note, every once in a while, we are moved by people who seem larger than life. He's one of the best role models in sport, one who has given much back to the community. Now Roger's been appointed a goodwill ambassador for Unicef. I am happy for the children of the world.

I agree with Sue and her sentiments... it's not about gay or straight, it's about being able to love, simple as that.
Sadly our Prime Minister is firmly glued to the opinions of your President, and not for the good of this country.
On a lighter note... who is that young hottie with the sexy big nipples?

He is not MY president...

This hottie's nuts (and abs, and smile) make me cream.

I'm just back (in the UK) from Almaty in Kazakhstan. I was worried about the amount of arms I'd see openly on the streets (it makes me nervous) but the only armed men I saw in almost 2 weeks were outside the US embassy which was done up like a prison camp with steel shuttering and closed-off streets on either side (must be really convenient for the locals).

By comparison even the UK embassy had no visible security measures in place and we're as much responsible for this illegal invasion as you are.

I just wondered if this really is the image the US wants to portray to the world.

Chris, the mountains must have been beautiful.

I've seen my fair share of US embassies - some are less heavily guarded (like the one in London) and some are just like the one you described.

I think the level of security is probably necessary. But you're right, if I understand the point you're trying to make correctly. If I may say so, frankly, I think the US is pretty bad at thinking in other people's shoes.
